The gardon is a musical instrument carved from wood. It resembles a cello, but its body is sculpted from a single piece of wood. At the workshop in Boros Valley, visitors can delve into the secrets of creating this instrument and follow the entire process as the wood comes to life step by step, transforming into a true wonder. Carving the gardon is a fascinating process from start to finish. As the excess material is removed and the final shape of the instrument takes form, each step represents a rebirth of the wood. During the workshop visit, visitors can see how a Gyimes gardon is made or what tools are used in the workshop.

I'm Mircse Ildikó, a master weaver living in Szeklerland, who is happy to show you the weaving process from thread to the finished product. On request, children's activities can be organised in the workshop, during which children weave small items.

The grape festival or harvest festival is a well-known tradition in all the Transylvanian regions, and is organized around harvest and grape processing in September-October. On the day of the event, young pairs dressed in folk clothes go through several localities around to invite the people to the festival. The young often go on horses, and the landladies serve them cakes. The ball is opened with a thundering dance offered by young people called "csősz" - the organizers of the ball. They have to be careful and guard the grapes, which decorate the ballroom, after the guests are allowed to “steal” them. Each year the queen and king of the ball are chosen, who guard the grapes and blow a whistle when they catch a thief in action. The "thief" caught is obliged to pay a symbolic sum in exchange for the grapes. The party continues until the morning, with dancing and singing, raffles, games and the auction of the "grape crown", which is made from a giant grape cluster, in the middle of which is placed a bottle of the best wine of the community. Buying the grape crown is a symbolic gesture that also determines a social status. Panoramic mountain refuges are rare in Europe. In Romania, there are two of them, both in the Bicaz/Békás Gorge. They were inaugurated this year by the Gyilkostó Adventure Association and Salvamont Harghita. One of them can be found at the Piatra Poienii/Mária-kő, the other one is on the Ucigaș/Gyilkos Mountain. The Treasure Cottage is designed to transport visitors back in time, and introduce them to the little treasures of rural life. Located in Mugeni/Bögöz (9.6 km from Odorheiu Secuiesc/Székelyudvarhely), the nearly 150-year-old house has served as a priest's lodge, a home for a wealthy family of farmers, a maternity hospital and a day care centre. A dairy and butter factory also operated here. The house still retains its traditional appearance and some of its original furnishings, so visitors entering through the gate will discover the treasures of a 19th century bourgeois property in a rural setting. From the first day of Christmas to the Epiphany, the children walk with the "Star", and the older ones with "The Deer" with their antlers adorned with bells and tassels, clattering from their teeth and turning around to cheer their hosts. These are hundred years old customs, still kept by the Romanians from northern Harghita County and the Csangos in the Ghimes Valley, the cheerful and noisy groups of carol singers giving charm to the winter holidays. During Christmas, two customs stand out in the Hungarian community traditions: "Bethlehem" and "Az aprószentek" or "Whipping the girls". "Bethlehem" presents the birth of Jesus Christ. The model of a Catholic church, made of cardboard or light boards and symbolizing the city where the Savior was born, is carried away from house to house, and the carol singers dressed as Joseph and Mary, shepherds and the Three Magi from the East, recall the biblical story. "Az aprószentek" is a tradition for young people before marriage. Groups of boys dressed in holiday clothes visit the girls' houses with a birch rod decorated with colorful ribbons, predominantly red - because the custom is about passion and love. Corund fanfare has a tradition of over a century, being brought back to life in 1990 by Szász János, and later by the current fanfare leader, Molnár Andor, a music teacher in Corund, who is in charge of preparing students. The fanfare is present at any event organized in the commune. There is an annual fanfare festival, attended by guests from around the commune, the county, and even from abroad, thanks to the collaboration with the Makó and Kiskunfélegyháza towns in Hungary, which have important music schools. Farsang is a centuries-old tradition preserved to this day. Carnival traditions can be traced back several centuries when during the evening people who gathered together to make thread would dance, sing and play.  Farsang ends on Mardi Gras, and the last evening sitting gained the size of a small wedding when the participants prepare cakes and cabbage rolls, and drank. The atmosphere gets hotter, with music and dance until the morning. After that, the whole community holds a party to bury the Farsang, by which they say goodbye to the cheerful weeks. "Burying the Farsang" is one of the most spectacular celebrations in Harghita County, and on this occasion, the village sons who live somewhere else return home. The central element of the feast is the puppet, a straw doll realistically dressed and decorated, from socks to hat, which is usually called Illyés or Döme. The doll symbolizes the Farsang, and the entire community, disguised in a funeral procession, "laments" its demise. At the end, Illyés is undressed and its straws set on fire, around which the participants sing and dance. The procession then passes once more through the village, calling the inhabitants to the Farsang Ball. Vlăhiţa Children's Philharmonic consists of 140 children, of which 100 sing in the choir and 40 are musicians. The music teacher Haáz Sándor established the band in 1982, and is currently leading the Philharmonic. The repertoire is composed of short classical pieces, Hungarian folk or other nations’ songs - accompanied by symphonic orchestra. They often perform in Transylvanian towns, and since 1990 they have concerts abroad in each summer holiday. Gábor Áron community center is also the headquarters of the philharmonic’s foundation. The same building hosts an ethnographic museum of the locality.

Maundy Thursday is the day of the betrayal and murder of Jesus. In memory of these events, in ​​Ciucul de Sus (Mădăraș village) the Lord's Supper is held by cooking and praying collectively. Good Friday is the day of watching the holy body. In the villages of Ciuc area (Sântimbru-Ciuc, Sâncrăieni, Sândominic) and Gheorgheni area (Joseni), unmarried boys, dressed in folk garments and armed with wooden guns, watch the inanimate body of Jesus, starting from the Great Friday to the Resurrection. Another tradition preserved today, not only in the Szekler villages, but also in the city, is that of sprinkling the girls - an event that takes place on the second Easter day. We are very pleased to have been able to create a place in Harghita County that provides meaningful leisure for all ages. Children and adults can get close to the animals living in the park, and they can touch and pet them. In many cases, contact with animals can be a therapeutic nature, as it has a beneficial effect on our physical and mental health.  Nowadays, fewer and fewer pets are kept by families, so one of our goals is to introduce backyard animals and some exotic species, especially to children. The petting zoo is constantly being expanded. We also provide horseback riding and carriage rides with our beautiful pony horses. We welcome all those interested in the “Babusgató” petting zoo and animal park in Subcetate Zetea/Zeteváralja. Tickets: • Adult ticket: 35 RON • Child ticket (3-14): 30 RON

Discover Transylvania in one day! Mini Transylvania Park is the only multicultural, thematic mock-up park in Romania, where visitors can see a scaled-down copy of Transylvania's most important historical buildings. The park is located in Szejkefürdő/Băile Szejke, near Székelyudvarhely/Odorheiu Secuiesc. In the area of about 8000 square meters we recommend to our visitors: • our open-air exhibition, which presents scale models of more than 80 of the most significant castles, fortified churches, mansions and other monumental buildings in Transylvania; • most of them are part of the national heritage and UNESCO World Heritage; • a mini-Szekler train tour;  • buffalo carriage rides; • the Mineral Water Museum; • exhibition of the Szekler gates; • the Orbán Balázs Visitor Center; • playground. The scale models exposed in our park present the most important buildings of the region's nationalities, in their golden age. The scale models were made by Németh Hajnal Auróra and Vajda Domokos born in Cristuru Secuiesc, with the contribution of historical graphic artist Gyöngyössy János.
