About

We cordially invite you and your family to the Haáz Rezső Museum (Haberstumpf Villa) for the opening of the travelling exhibition “A Hungarian Gentleman from New York – Pál Kövi and the Transylvanian Feast.”

The Transylvanian Feast is a widely known and much-loved work, found in many households today. Its creation was preceded by extensive research in the 1970s, yet we rarely ask: who was the man behind this iconic cookbook?

Pál Kövi lived an exceptionally rich life: agronomist, football player, restaurateur, entrepreneur, and gastronome—a true 20th-century polymath. Born in Balassagyarmat, he passed away in New York. This exhibition presents his remarkable life journey and gastronomic legacy.
