Kotyogó

About

Kotyogó Restaurant and Guesthouse awaits its guests in the heart of Lupeni (Farkaslaka), in one of the most beautiful regions of Transylvania. It is a place where the proximity of nature, high-quality gastronomy, and a cozy, family atmosphere meet.
In our restaurant, the focus is on quality ingredients and respect for flavors. Our kitchen is built on local traditions while remaining open to global gastronomy: alongside Transylvanian classics, the menu features selected European and Far Eastern inspirations. Each dish is prepared using fresh, carefully selected ingredients with a clean yet creative approach.
Our chef, Hunor Balázs, works with a passion for variety and creation. Every weekend, he prepares a new, exciting menu, allowing guests to rediscover the world of flavors time and again. Kotyogó is thus not just a place for a meal, but a worthy setting for a meaningful lunch, a special dinner, or a festive occasion.
Aromatic coffees, carefully crafted cocktails, and friendly service further enrich your time spent here. The atmosphere is simultaneously elegant and informal: a space where it feels good to arrive, sit down, talk, and truly dedicate time to one another.
The establishment began as a family business, and although it has continuously evolved and expanded over the years, it has preserved its intimate, personal character. For us, a guest is not just a visitor, but someone to whom we wish to provide a memorable experience through attentiveness, quality, and genuine care.
The Kotyogó Guesthouse offers peaceful relaxation in tastefully furnished rooms. The windows offer stunning views of the surrounding pastures and fields, making the silence and beauty of nature a true part of your stay. The comfortable, harmonious spaces provide an ideal environment for recharging, whether for a short weekend getaway or a longer holiday.
A wellness area is also available for our guests, focusing on physical and mental regeneration. The calm environment and relaxing services ensure that your time here is one of true revitalization.

specialty coffee - sourdough - ferments What is our purpose? To create a place where quality isn’t a luxury, but a baseline. Where there’s a face behind sourdough bread, a story behind the coffee and ferments, and values behind the food. Where the guest isn’t just a consumer, but part of the community. We envisioned a space where the city’s consciously living crowd feels at home. Where you don’t just ask for a coffee—you also get conversation, community, and inspiration. Workshops, talks, local producers, and of course a stable, self-sustaining way of operating. MiMi doesn’t rush—it pauses. In three words: quality, mindfulness, trust. And who are we for? Anyone who chooses consciously—in food, in pace, in lifestyle. This is MiMi. A new rhythm. The taste of a slower life.

Visitors can step into the realm of pure flavors and authentic traditions at the ”Bunătățile Băciței” Local Gastronomic Point, right in the heart of Sărmaș! This is not just an eatery, it is described as a journey into the soul of Transylvanian shepherd cuisine, where the gift of nature meets meticulously preserved recipes. Here, every bite is said to bring back the taste of childhood, proving that the most memorable experiences are born from the simplest ingredients. The cornerstone of the kitchen is lamb meat, which is used to prepare unforgettable dishes, carefully spiced and following local traditions. Special attention is also paid to the treasures of the forest: fresh, carefully selected wild mushrooms from the surrounding woods—Boletus, Honey Fungus, and Chanterelles —enrich the menu, cleaned with care and transformed into delicious meals. The deepest flavor experience is offered by the rustic potatoes baked in embers, whose smoky aroma evokes the genuine, original shepherd fires. To complement these, the establishment offers its artisanal sourdough bread (pita), prepared using traditional methods, its taste carrying the warmth of a grandmother's kitchen. ”Bunătățile Băciței” Local Gastronomic Point  is presented as the meeting point for the delicacies of the past, present, and future. Through this, the tradition is carried on, paying tribute to the ancestors. Reservations require prior booking by phone.  The menu is arranged in advance, based on prior consultation!
