This lecture explores how the digital world works and the consequences of excessive screen use, with a focus on child development and mental health. Based on recent research and statistics, it provides a clear picture of why the digital space is so attractive to young people.

It also discusses how digital devices affect neurological development, what healthy brain development looks like, and what activities should be prioritized instead of screen time. The talk also offers practical guidance for parents and educators.

Speaker: Ákos Pöltl
Family security expert at the Youth Research Institute and founder of the “Switch Off!” movement. His work focuses on protecting the mental health of children and teenagers, especially regarding digital environments. He delivers science-based educational lectures and develops professional materials to support healthy screen habits. In 2024, he received the Family Award from the Ministry of Culture and Innovation.
