The Prehistoric Roots of Hungarian Folk Culture

Did you know that the tradition of decorating Easter eggs has a documented history going back 60,000 years? Or that some symbols in Hungarian folk art have carried the same messages for 5,000–6,000 years?

As part of Szeklerland Days, you are invited to a special illustrated talk and exhibition opening exploring the ancient roots of Hungarian folk culture.

The presentation will focus on:
• Archaic layers of the Hungarian language
• Ancient weaving, embroidery and braiding techniques
• The millennia-old meanings of traditional symbols and motifs
