About

We organize our tour in collaboration with the "Hazajáró Honismereti és Turista Egylet", in line with its mission, and in partnership with the Municipality of Siculeni/Madéfalva and the Transylvanian Carpathian Association of Ciuc/Csík, Odorhei/Udvarhely and Covasna/Háromszék.

This is the sixth Tour of Harghita in Siculeni/Madéfalva, but our future plans include combining historical commemoration with a tourism program, creating a winter meeting place for Hungarians from the Carpathian Basin, including families.

Detailed Program:
Friday, January 24, 2025:
  • 18:00: Closer to the Sky: On the Highest Peaks of the Himalayas
    A presentation by Sterczer Hilda, expedition mountaineer and head of the "Hópárduc" Foundation
    Venue: Cultural Center of Siculeni
    Entrance fee, which also serves as a raffle ticket: 25 RON/person, available for purchase on-site.
Saturday, January 25, 2025:
  • 8:30: Meeting at the outskirts of satului Olt/Oltfalu (Ciceu/Csíkcsicsó Commune)
  • 9:00: Departure for the hike
  • 9:00 – 16:30: 6th Tour of Harghita in Siculeni/Madéfalva – SICULICIDIUM Memorial Hike
    Distance: approx. 24 km. Elevation: 725 m
  • 17:00: Hike evaluation at the Cultural Center (including bread with lard, mulled wine, tea, and singing)
    Donations are welcome for the hike evaluation program!
Sunday, January 26, 2025:
  • 10:30: Holy Mass at the Siculicidium Chapel dedicated to Saint Anne
  • 11:30: Short commemoration and optional wreath-laying at the Siculicidium Monument (261st anniversary)
  • 12:00: Departure home

Participation Fee: there is no participation fee for the hike; each participant is responsible for their own transportation, accommodation, and meals.
Registration: pre-registration for the hike is required, deadline: Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 8:00 PM.

Additional Information: weather conditions must be considered, as January in Ciuc can be very cold with snow. Depending on the weather, a shorter version of the hike may also be available.
