Open Day at Lake Saint Anne

On June 1st, from 11:00 AM and again at 2:00 PM, we welcome everyone to a special community day at the Lake Saint Anne – Mohos Peat Bog Ecocenter, celebrating Children’s Day and the International Day of Volcanoes.

Discover the story of the Ciomad Volcano:
● how it worked
● when and how it erupted
● why it erupted
● why it is currently dormant
● and what signs show that the volcano cannot yet be considered extinct

Explore the 3D model of the Ciomad Volcano and meet the volcanologists who have been studying its volcanic formations for more than 15 years to uncover its past and present activity.

Planned activities:

● Interactive volcano role-play and discussions
● Rock and gas analysis demonstrations
● The story of the region’s mineral waters
● Surprise volcano eruption simulation

The program starts at 11:00 AM and will be repeated at 2:00 PM.

On this day, entry to Lake Saint Anne, the Mohos Peat Bog, and the Knowledge Center will be free of charge.

This event is intended to become a new community tradition — a meeting point for volcanoes, science, and people alike.
