LUCI PEAT BOG | HARGHITA MOUNTAINS
About
Since May, we’ve been exploring the wild outdoors together with you, and we feel that now is the time to give a little something back to nature.
This time, we’re not inviting you on a hike, but to join us in cleaning up the Luci Peat Bog and its surroundings. And while we’re there, of course, we’ll also enjoy a beautiful autumn day in the unique world of Luci.

The Luci Peat Bog
The Luci Peat Bog is a truly magical place. With its 273-hectare protected area, it is one of the largest high-altitude peat bogs in Romania, located close to the main ridge of the Harghita Mountains, inside a vast volcanic caldera.
The peat bog formed through the gradual infilling and waterlogging of a former crater lake. The Kormos stream flows through the area, while the peat layer is estimated to reach up to 4.5 metres in some places.
Glacial relic plants, carnivorous plants, bog rosemary and dwarf birches create a unique, tundra-like landscape in the heart of the Harghita Mountains.
This time, we want to do our small part to help keep this special place clean and protected.

A little treat for our volunteers
While supplies last, we’re inviting everyone who lends a helping hand to enjoy a delicious hot specialty coffee under the trees, courtesy of Nebula Coffee Project. Kakucsi Áron Attila, coffee roaster and barista, will be preparing a special coffee for you.
We’ll also have hot tea and apples available, while supplies last.
To avoid creating unnecessary waste during the day, we kindly ask everyone to bring their own: cup, mug or reusable drinking vessel.
