Cabbage Cutting and Fair in Frumoasa/Szépvíz

The traditional fair, the morning horse-drawn carriage parade, and the closing circle dance provide the setting for the celebration, while its essence remains unchanged: harvesting and cutting cabbage. The harvest, cooking teams, producers, and buyers come together at the Frumoasa Cabbage-Cutting Celebration and Fair, making it a tradition that many people return to year after year, carrying its memories forward to festive tables as well.

Join us on October 17, 2026, in Frumoasa for a day celebrating local traditions, cabbage-based dishes and community spirit!

The programme includes a horse-drawn procession accompanied by a brass band, a cabbage cooking competition, folk music and dance performances, a workshop on fermentation and sourdough pickling, a prize-giving ceremony, a raffle and a traditional fair.

The day will end with a Cabbage Ball at the local cultural centre, featuring the Jánosi Music Band.
