About
The Ciuc Chamber Orchestra invites its audience to a unique concert experience!
In the ceremonial hall of the József Attila Elementary School (2 Miron Cristea Street), four compositions from two different eras will come to life. These works – predominantly contemporary – all with solo parts will be performed by three distinguished classical musicians alongside the Ciuc Chamber Orchestra. In addition to rarely heard pieces, the concert will also feature a world premiere: Dezső Oláh has composed a double concerto specifically for this performance, which will serve as the program's concluding work.
The evening will be conducted by the excellent Gábor Horváth from Budapest – a figure already well-known to audience in Miercurea Ciuc.

About the soloists:
Clarinetist Csaba Klenyán was born in Vác in 1969. He completed his high school at the Liszt Ferenc Music Academy; György Kurtág, Péter Eötvös, and Barnabás Dukay exerted a profound influence on him and his artistic philosophy.
In addition to the Classical and Romantic repertoire, he places significant emphasis on the interpretation of contemporary music. He frequently performs improvisational music, collaborating with some of the most distinguished musicians from the Hungarian jazz and improvisation scene. His concert series, the Hungarian Clarinet Anthology – launched in 2007 – aims to show the entire body of Hungarian clarinet literature. For his outstanding contributions to contemporary music, he was awarded a Soros Scholarship in 2002 and the Liszt Prize in 2003. He is a founding member of the UMZE (New Hungarian Music Association) Chamber Ensemble and the New Dimension Workshop (Új Dimenzió Műhely). Since 1999, he has served as the principal clarinetist of the Budapest Chamber Symphony; he was a member of Trio Lignum from 1997 to 2010. Furthermore, he is a clarinetist with the Ligeti Ensemble, a member of the group Cimbiózis 5tet, and the principal clarinetist of Concerto Budapest.

Bálint Mohai was born in Budapest in 1989. He began playing the bassoon at the age of 12 under the tutelage of his father, Tibor Mohai, and Tamás Pécsi at the Dohnányi Ernő Music School. Subsequently, he attended the Bartók Béla Secondary School of Music in Budapest, where he studied in the class of József Vajda. He earned his Bachelor’s degree with distinction from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, studying under István Hartenstein. He completed his Master’s and postgraduate studies in Berlin at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) in the class of Prof. Eckart Hübner.
He made his debut as a soloist at the age of 16 at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, accompanied by the Bartók Béla Youth Orchestra. Since then, he has performed with ensembles including the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra, Concerto Budapest, the Budapest Strings, the Sibiu Philharmonic, the Slovak State Philharmonic, the Brandenburg Youth Orchestra, the Szeklerland Philharmonic, and the Ciuc Chamber Orchestra.
In 2014, he became the principal bassoonist of the Hungarian State Opera, a position he continues to hold today. Additionally, in 2019, he was appointed principal bassoonist of Concerto Budapest, led by András Keller. He is a founder of the Budapest Wind Quintet and the Budapest Bassoon Trio; furthermore, he is a founding member of the Budapest-based chamber ensemble Musiciens Libres and member of the Berlin-based chamber ensemble Ensemble Mini.

Pianist and composer Dezső Oláh (born 1986) turned his interest toward jazz following his classical music studies; in the spring of 2009, he received his degree as artist and teacher from the Jazz Department of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.
He formed his own trio in September 2005. The ensemble has numerous performances to its credit, having appeared at the Palace of Arts (Művészetek Palotája), the Merlin Theatre, and the Thália Theatre; they also performed in our city a few years ago. Their repertoire consists primarily of jazz standards, with collective improvisation playing a significant role in their performances.
In 2006, he was named "Best Soloist" at the National Jazz Ensemble Competition, and a year later, he and his trio won the "Best Ensemble" award at the same event. At the annual Jazz Combo Competition organized by the Hungarian Jazz Federation, he received the "Best Soloist of the Year" award in 2007, followed by the "Best Composer of the Year" award in 2008. In 2009, he participated in the International Kodolányi Jazz Competition, and that same year, he was honored with the Junior Prima Award.
Concert supported by Mayor's Office and Municipal Council of Miercurea Ciuc, by József Attila Elementary School, and by the Ciuc Chamber Orchestra Association.
