Open Gates, Living Heritage

Open Gates, Living Heritage is a special commemorative conference and event series honouring Piroska Kovács, a devoted guardian and researcher of Szekler gates and folk heritage, ten years after her passing.

The programme includes a three-week video competition inviting young people to discover the stories behind historic Szekler gates, as well as an Open Heritage House on October 7–8, where visitors can try traditional gate carving and furniture painting.

On October 9, the commemorative conference will explore Piroska Kovács’s legacy, the preservation of Szekler gates and the future of this living heritage. The afternoon will continue with folk music, Folkaktív and further programmes.
